Iron Ore Heritage Trail
Take a piece of history home with you, biking along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. This 47 mi trail not only passes through five towns, but the trail includes various terrain and views from historic mining areas to wetlands. Stop along the Superior Shoreline when you need to take a break and enjoy the refreshing crystal blue waters. This trail is great for all skill levels and accommodates walkers and runners. Not only is biking the Iron Ore Heritage Trail a popular UP adventure, but you will learn about the 160+ year iron history here in Marquette County.
Marquette Mountain
A popular ski mountain in the winter, Marquette Mountain transforms into a thrilling bike park in the warmer summer months. With trails for all skill levels, it will be a joy for the entire family. For beginners, Snake Oil, Easy Rider, and Weasel Connector are great runs. The Original DH is a great trail for intermediate bikers; though it has a few tight corners and rocks, it is an exhilarating ride that will keep you coming back. For expert mountain bikers looking for bigger thrills, Marquette Mountain hosts 600 vertical drops, rocky gardens, and beams to test your skills.
Noquemanon Trail Network
Commonly known as the “South Trails” and “North Trails,” the Noquemanon Trail Network trail system was built with all rider styles and skills in mind. Featuring waterfalls, scenic views, and rustic campgrounds, the singletrack system is home to some of the UP’s most popular trails and has received national acclaim as a premier mountain bike destination.
RAMBA
RAMBA, the Range Area Mountain Bike Association, is a top 10 system of Bronze Level IMBA Ride Center through the Marquette Iron Range. With over 77 miles of singletrack, there is much to explore for all skill levels. Be sure to check out all of the awesome annual events that feature RAMBA’s trails like the Marji Gesick 100 (deemed the hardest single-day MTB race in America), and winter’s Fat-ISH and 906 Polar Roll snow bike races.
